Theme parks come with all sorts of adventures and excitement. Some bland, some, like a roller coaster, great and then dull experiences. But there is one theme park that stands out from the rest – Universal’s Volcano Bay.

If there is one thing Universal Studios do well, it is to provide wholesome entertainment for the whole family. And that is exactly what you will get at Volcano Bay – no, not just entertainment. You will be a part of the entertainment. At Volcano Bay, it’s all about the experience.

Volcano Bay: An Eruption of Excitement

When Universal’s Volcano Bay was announced to the public, it sent waves of excitement across the land – and beyond. The third installment in their theme parks was billed to be a water park like no other. And true to their word, it is. Opened on the 25th of May 2017, Volcano Bay features a volcano named “Krakatau”, a feature that boasts of being one of the highest peaks in Florida. Standing at 200 feet above the park, the views from the summit are breathtaking. Go ahead, head over to Volcano Bay and see for yourself.

Krakatau – The Heart of Volcano Bay

Krakatau is not just an ornament to adorn the already beautiful theme park. It is the heart of most of the rides at Volcano Bay. While the front part of the volcano serves as an ornament with amazing waterfalls streaming down its sides, the backside of the volcano is wide open with stairways to the theme park’s thrilling rides.

Volcano Bay Theme Park – Lava Hot Attractions

Still wondering what else the newly opened Volcano Bay theme park has to offer? Here are some of the hot attractions you can look forward to. I promise you, you won’t find the usual watered down rides and activities here. This state of the art theme park is well equipped to make your day memorable.

Krakatau Aqua Coaster – River Roller Coaster

This blockbuster is Volcano Bay’s signature ride. The Aqua Coaster is a four-person canoe that goes up the volcano and inside the volcano. While inside the belly of the volcano, the Aqua Coaster will take you on many gut-wrenching, scream-inducing twists and turns that will leave your adrenaline levels at their max.

Ko’okiri Body Plunge – Extreme Water Slide

This water slide is not for the faint-hearted. This is a heart-stopping plunge at a 70-degree angle, going down a 125-foot winding and twisting water slide. The icing on the cake is a great splash into a pool full of cheering spectators. Go ahead – take the plunge.

Punga Racers – Riding the Majestic Manta-Ray

The Punga racers are a fun ride for everyone to enjoy. Four riders race on manta-ray mats in four lanes with the winner receiving a “watery salute” from Punga himself. On a fear factor scale of 1 – 5, the Punga Racers rate at 3.

Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides

This is another adrenaline filled water slide – twin water slide in fact – that start from the peak of the volcano (remember how tall it is?). Twin drop doors open simultaneously under 2 guests, sending them plunging down the twin water slides (named Kala and Tai Nui). The slide down these two tubes as they intertwine is an experience well worth the trip to Volcano Bay.

River Village – Fun Activities for Kids at Volcano Bay

I know what you are thinking. You’re wondering if your kids can handle the rides I’ve been talking about. Don’t worry about that, this is a family resort after all. There are plenty of rides and activities even a toddler can enjoy.

Enter River Village, a brightly colored watery village with everything your children will love – and more.

Kopiko Wai Winding River

Kopiko Wai is a picturesque winding lazy river that passes through the volcano’s hidden caves. The spontaneous water effects and special nighttime lighting will definitely have your toddlers squealing in delight. Don’t be mistaken, this is a family ride and everyone will enjoy it.

Runamukka Reef

This sprawling water play area is inspired by the coral reef. Twisting slides, sprinklers and a whole lot more make for a fun-filled day for the family. Runamukka Reef is the spot to spend the day if you have little ones in tow and is probably the spot to rent a cabana (if you can, they are in high demand). If you are interested in the adult rides, I would advise you start with them before coming here because your kids won’t want to leave this spot.

Volcano Bay – Unending Fun

There is more to enjoy at Volcano Bay than can be covered on a page. Even 24-hours are not enough to take in all this ultra-modern theme park has to offer. When the first Disney Parks where unveiled, no one could have dreamt theme parks would evolve into what they are today. If you are looking for unending fun for the family, Volcano Bay is the place to be.
